This lovely old fashioned pub is a gem at the heart of our community. The present day Martlet Inn is thought to be a 17th century stone and cob building and was thatched until the 20th century.
Now it is a mix of old and new: the ancient part of the building is beamed with a wood burning stove that serves both the bar and the lower part of the restaurant; and the new part is a beautiful orangery.
The pub is run by Craig and Anca and in both 2014 and 2015 it won the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence Award, which isn't a surprise to its visitors. You get a warm welcome from Anca as you walk through the door and, if you stay for a meal, you are in for a scruptious feast as Craig is an experienced chef, having previously been Head Chef for Thistle Hotels and high end Golf Clubs.
Newcomers beware, the pub and restaurant are closed on Monday.
